Dedicated to those who prefer to study in India and settle abroad

Being an IITian I really feel like addressing this matter.

There are so many friends of mine who are brought up in India, who have been using the resources provided by the government of India and always prefer going abroad. Why?

The answer is simple. Vitamin M.
That's what they are worried for. Money, money and money.
Doesn't one ever feel that he/she is indebted to the society, to the country?

We are using all the possible resources, rather we are reaping the harvests sown by the government. Using Indian educational system if you want to serve other nations, just because they offer more money, it is analogous betraying your loving and caring parents.

I'm studying in IIT at a subsidized fees structure, because the government feels that it is the duty of the country to provide me with quality education and I deserve it by being an Indian, but am I really an Indian, if I go abroad and offer my services over there?

Shouldn't I have a sense of belongingness towards the country? Should I not reciprocate to the care shown by the government?

I have heard people saying There is no scope for me in India, my true talent will come out only in USA. and they end up in leaving a well paying good job in India and serving as domestic servants abroad.

In a speech in Hyderabad, Hon Dr APJ Abdul Kalaam mentioned that the same Indian throwing rubbish everywhere on Indian roads and cursing the municipality for not keeping the roads clean will suddenly develop the behavioural sense if he's in Singapore or Dubai and will make sure not to spoil the road. Is it the leniency that is misused, or is it wowen in ourselves to take things for granted and blame the system for all our follies?

There is a nice joke.

An Indian went to England. On coming back his first comment was Even the waiters over there speak English!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When shall we get rid of the White Skin Complex?

People say, India is corrupt, it's dirty, indisciplined. Agreed, it is.

But, who made it so? Who's responsible for the current state? Of course, we, ourselves. If your house is dirty, it's only you, who doesn't take care of it, because of the dirty house you do not go to the neighbour's place and live there, because ultimately your house is YOUR house, your own, if it is dirty, you shall clean it.

Let us have the same belongingness towards the country and instead of always asking for rights, let us not turn our deaf ear to the duties once and see the holy feeling of satisfaction within.

Robin Sharma has rightly said in his book The purpose of life is a life of purpose.

Give the moneychase a break and spend a few moments of purity to bring a smile on someone's face, and see the glow of that person's smile on your face. It's a divine feeling. Even billions of dollars can't BUY any satisfaction.

Our existence is linked with so many, breaking the link, you'll be after money and you may also get it, but what will remain closest to you till the moment you die will be the guilt, will be the hidden rebellion prevented from coming out; let it come out once and fell the enlightenment.

Are we tolerant or ignorant???

Really are we tolerant or ignorant???

Aren't we trying to hide our negligence behind the facet of tolerance???

Don't we pretend to be ignorant where actually we are coward???

Don't we blow the trumpet of tolerance when it comes to exploitation???

Few days back a teenage girl was raped in Surat.

As claimed by the newspapers, the shameful act was shot on a camera.
Why did they do it?
Was it only their devilish wish of physical means, or was it any economical angle also associated with it?

I'm not trying to claim anything, but just want to open a new angle possibly leading to a big scam.

So many lives are spoiled, so many families are ruined, why???
Just because of pornography. As I read in a newspaper, watching pornography is not a punishable offence in India. Should the government not give a thought to address this issue?

Just sit for a while and imagine the plight of the victim, the victim's family and their relatives. Nobody knows the agony or the frustration they are undergoing.
Our society is not bold enough, rather mature enough to accept the victim as a part of it. We should get rid of this apathy and orthodoxy.

Apparently it is not the fault of the victim, then why should she suffer? Why should she be separated from the society? Aren't we indirectly socially molesting her post such a tragedy instead of offering a smile of sympathy and acceptance? Which so called modern person will be ready to marry her?

There are people watching MMSes and then condemning them, can't we be rebellious enough to suppress them?
This horrible act will stop only if the demand is reduced.

Can I request all the viewers of the post (let them be only 2, 3 or 4) to give this a thought by putting themselves into the shoe of the victim's family and decide to contribute their best to throw away this mentality??

Reservation

One of the most burning issues in today's Indian society.........
After finishing 60 years of independence and also the constitution being almost that old, are there any scopes of reevaluation of structure of the constitution?

Times are changing, sociopolitical values are changing, in this scenario clinging to more than half a century old practices does not seem feasible, at least to me.

Our constitution is said to be one of the world's most descriptive and detailed versions of its kind, but the issue I want to rise has probably something to do with the adaptability.

Winds blow, storms blow, the tree that stands tall and refuses to bend or rather obstructs the flow of wind, collapses sooner or later. A small crop waving with the wind, enjoying the change probably being far weaker than the tree, doesn't get uprooted.

Same is apt everywhere.

Wind or storm is probably the changing time or changing society, the tree is the stiff element trying to prevent the change possibly forgetting that change/refreshment is life and stagnation is death, the crop is the adaptable element facilitating enough flexibility keeping in mind the well-being of itself.

The criteria for reservation, or rather reservation was apt when devised by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar et al, but I feel with changing times and such a big change in terms of decentralization of power, liberalization and globalization there is a need to review this section of the constitution.
What remains unchanged with change in time is the longing for welfare of the society as a whole.

Genuinly thinking 60 years are more than enough for our fellow-citizens who were socially or economically being exploited to come and join the main stream, and still if it is not done, it is a clear indication of improper implementation of the policy.

Our constitution says that nobody will be discreminated based on cast, colour, religion, region or gender, then allocation of reservation category based on cast doesn't look practical. There should be a feedback system making sure that fruits of reservation are eaten only by the needy and not the greedy.

Sorry to say, but I'm observing more misuse than use of reservation around. Not to mention the reference, I would like to quote a person who was coming from a family of IAS and IPS officers and who was spending more than a thousand bucks daily for partying at an age less than 18. He was said to be belonging to ST category!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the contrary there are many cases of people literally being socially as well as economically being molested, but just because of themselves being from general category, they are kept away from reservation.

It seems that a kid, when born, carries a stamp of ST, OBC or Gen on the forehead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How unpractical it is not to reevaluate the condition of any particular family over such a large time span!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moreover with increasing number of IITs and IIMs, they are already losing their well deserved and well earned reputation. Increase in reservation quota will do nothing but add fuel to the fire.

With such a hype in reservation, general category seems to be the minority.....

Reservation is a must for the country, as it is not the country of THE RICH, but the country of THE INDIANS, but I would strongly reccommend that the proportion should be limited and the criterion should be the real condition of the person, and not the cast................

My first post

I had thoughts about blogging for so many days or may be months, but the inherent laziness probably prevented me from blogging.
Why I wanted to blog??????????
Simple. To express myself.
Daily newspaper in the morning brings agony and sorrow only instead of smile on a face, what a terrible beginning of a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are so many things beyond one's reach.........
But somehow one wants to do it or at least wants to discuss it, share it, express it.
That's why I want to blog.

Today, 20th June, 2009, today's headlines completely eradicated my indolence and pushed me to write something.

As written by Times of India, two constables in UP pushed a pregnant woman out of the train. Why? She denied paying bribe of 100 rupees.

So one question arises. Is her life more valuable or 100 rupees?
Another question arises. How could the constables ask her for bribe?
Another question arises. Indian Railways belong to THY MAJESTY constables?
Another question arises. Are we living in a democratic country?
Another question arises. Will any concrete steps be taken by the authorities to uproot this barbarism or will it be suppressed like millions of other stinking symbols of inhumanity?
Another question arises. How long shall we be so insensitive and forgetful?

I remember the quote on air after 26/11 blasts People of Mumbai are fighters. They will overcome all these hardships and resume their routine life.

Should it be our reply to terrorism? Should we try and forget these things, or keep the fire burning in our hearts and toil till we eliminate this vice from the society?

Forgiving is a sign of courage, forgetting is a sign of cowardice.

After arising so many questions, I arise one final question and the finger of question is pointing towards ourselves. Are we courageous or coward? Are we sensitive or inhuman? Shall we do anything for changing the society instead of always blaming the bureaucracy, the political system and the government? I believe, the people on the coach where this shameful act was materialized were coward, had they not been, they would have prevented the constables from behaving like this. But had you, me or anyone of us been there, would it have created some difference, or we would have been silent spectators and enjoyed the action movie?

This is a question to be asked to ourselves. Instead of asking for a change, do we have the courage to BE THE CHANGE?

If you're not doing anything to prevent or fight terrorism, dowry, poverty, disgust, unemployment; you do not possess the right to comment on it.

Sitting on an armchair and cursing the politicians is probably one of the most favourite timekilling activity of today's youth (including me), but shall we ever be in politics and improve the country?

Shall we ever think of giving up the lucrative jobs we may get in the fields of banking, management, engineering, pharma and bla bla bla............ and DO something for a change, for the upliftment of the country???
