Integrity

One fine morning, I was having breakfast in our mess. With me there was a Gujarati friend of mine and a few more friends from UP and MP, an Italian student was also having breakfast along with us.

It seems a normal scenario, but in the next ten minutes something happened that started churning the wheels on which my faith of national integrity was based.

The Italian spoke Aaj Nashta achchha hai.

Yes, he was speaking Hindi, though his mothertongue was Italian and he was supposed to communicate with people in English, he spoke Hindi. He was learning Hindi.

With some surprise I went out after breakfast and met a friend, and by instinct I spoke in Hindi and got in response a blank face from him. Then I realized, I was supposed to speak in English as this friend of mine despite being an Indian did not know Hindi, rather did not want to learn Hindi.

This culture is observed dominating in South India, especially in Tamilnadu. All non Tamils in Tamilnadu will have faced this. Despite knowing Hindi, they will not speak it.

Once I had had a discussion with a friend from Chennai about life in Tamilnadu. He said there were no issues like riots, terrorism or any other social problems; the only thing was that they did not want pollution of Hindi in TN.

Tamil is their mothertongue, so they should respect it, they should preserve their cultural heritage. Agreed, but when somebody from some other cultural background comes here and stays here, he/she has to undergo a big torture, as Hindi is accepted at few places. Almost all states of India have their own languages, but they do speak Hindi when needed, and that is how we can move ahead on the path of unity and prosperity.

But people may not be blamed completely, Hindi is not compulsorily taught in schools, so people tend to ignore it, and the national language loses its pride.

I strongly feel, AICTE must make it compulsory for all the schools in India to teach Hindi for at least five years. It is a symbol of our nation, it is our identity, and when I hear people making fun of it, or feeling proud about not knowing Hindi, blood starts boiling. If an Indian can't communicate in India, what can be worse than it?????????????????????

Vote

V O T E
A four letter word, containing the power to transform one billion lives.

As suggested by a friend, I'll try to shorten my post. Let me begin with a story.

The emperor Akbar wanted to know how much do the people of Delhi love him. He called his best minister Birbal and asked him to do the needful.

Birbal announced in the whole city that the emperor was on death bed and as diagnosed by the doctors, needed a bath in milk. Birbal said that to save the emperor all the people should come to the swimming pool in the mid of the city in the late evening and pour a glass of milk and the emperor would take bath in it the next day.

Everybody thought all thousands of people will pour milk, what if I pour a glass of water, nobody will come to know in the dark.

Next morning, Akbar went to the swimming pool finding the whole pool filled with water.

Same thing happens with us also. One individual will think, one billion people are going to vote, what difference does it make, if I don't vote, but we forget that others may also be thinking the same.

Idealism says it that voting is our right, a time has come when we have to say voting is our duty. We should be ashamed of ourselves that we need to run campaigns like Jaagore. If this is the plight when it comes to voting, I sometimes feel we are not educated enough to enjoy the luxury of democracy.

This year in the parliament elections, the so called educated people of metros and other big cities enjoyed the day off and less than half turned up for voting in most of the cases. Instead villagers showed up more, this says that our schools teach only maths, science, literature, accountancy but no morals.

If after being a doctor, engineer, scientist, accountant; if you don't feel from inside that you should vote, I would dare to say that all your education is in vein. You do not deserve the fruits of democracy. If your conscience doesn't push you to vote, you deserve dictatorship only, where you do not possess freedom of speech, freedom of expression, equality of laws and all other fundamental rights.

In schools kids are made to speak up fundamental rights and duties and poor innocent kids mug them up, they never think that it has some relevance to their lives.

For the kind information of yours, I would like to mention one provision that is known to few.

If you think that no candidate deserves the parliament or assembly or local civil body seat, you can go to polling booth, get yourself registered and you can choose not to vote anyone. If the margin of victory of winning candidate is less than the number of people not preferring to vote, that particular constituency will be undergoing re-election with fresh candidates.

Way to go Mr Prime Minister

The Egyptian Error will cost India much more than the well earned reputation over the years. India has always been suffering from Pak provoked terrorism and has always made it a point to CONDEMN terrorism. Now he has also agreed to delink Mumbai attack case from the talks and include Balochistan, as if it matters more than Mumbai to India.

On global fronts, no terrorism should be spared from being dealt with, but I really wonder, being India's prime minister, how can he agree to this headless appeal!!! It not only earns sympathy for Pak but also puts India into the alleged terrorism favouring countries. The indirect message of the whole story in the easiest derivable format is that India are training terrorists and sending them to Balochistan. The failure of Pakistan's administration seems to have been overshadowed by India's approval, and what is even worse is that India will be blamed for any undesirable incident occurring in Pakistan. Good that Pakistan is not going to the extent of blaming India for Mr Gilani's sneezing nose...

At this occasion I would also like to congratulate our judiciary system. Ajmal Kasab (I don't remember the name well, and anyhow he's not some superhero for whom I should keep my memory occupied) confessed in the mid of the court all his crime and also asked the death penalty, still our judiciary system is not ready to sentence him death.

One spoiled fanatic killed so many people (Please don't ask for SABOOT aur GAVAAH, the ppt of him standing with a gun and killing people will have been seen by more than a million people by now) and dared to question the security of the world's greatest democracy and PROUD owner of the third best defense in the world. It was not a mere attack, it was an open invitation to thousands of more terrorists in pipeline to come to India and give a golden touch to their CAREER in terrorism, it was a threat posed to the nation's security, or rather courage.

As the character played by Naseeruddin Shah in the movie A Wednesday says they did ask us this question HUM TO YAHI KARENGE, AUR KARTE RAHENGE, AAP KYA KAR LENGE???
Correct, hum kya karenge? We will CONDEMN the act of terrorism, will call it antinational, will make a committee to investigate (which will submit the report after the culprit has died of natural death or increased age), and will wait for another incident to happen and will wait for forming another committee. That's all we do.

After killing so many people and enjoying media attention for so long, that brutal terrorist is still alive, does he have a right to breathe on this earth? He's polluting our planet. Once we have got necessary information from him, it is dangerous to keep him alive, it is like spreading red carpet for more and more IC 814s being hijacked, more and more Indians being killed on board in the hijacked plane and releasing the terrorist so that he can comfortably kill more Indians.

I remember the Holocaust. Hitler was advised that to kill one Jew, spending one bullet will take German economy to the dumpyard, and so they devised a cheaper way of killing people. GAS CHAMBER. For Hitler, one Jew life was cheaper than a bullet. With my heart doomed and eyes wet, I think, an ordinary Indian's life doesn't seem to be precious enough in the view point of the administration, otherwise these delays would not have taken place.

Globally India is creating an impression of being the softest targets for massacre.

They'll come and bomb our parliament, we will condemn.

They'll bomb Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar (and the list goes on...), we will condemn.

They'll plant bombs in hospitals treating bomb blast victims, we will condemn.

They'll attack our places of worship, we will condemn.

They'll intrude into Kashmir, we will condemn.

They'll kill innocent people, kill our kids, rape the women and we will do nothing but condemn.

If that is what our government is doing, if Army, Navy or Air force are not going to be allowed to show their mettle, despite their wish and passion, why should we have them? Keep the borders open and let the terrorists come and kill people...

And everytime the Big Brother Uncle Sam will raise his head and order the children to shut up.

WTC was attacked, and they wrecked the whole Afghanistan, ultimately failing to capture Laden.

If India does the similar thing, it is extremity, it is violence, it is hampering the global peace (as if terrorist attacks on India and Indians are the symbols of global peace).

And I ask another question.

Who is USA to comment on Indo-Pak relations, or rather why should our leaders always head to them?

India is an independent republic country and capable to think the good and bad of its own.

Mumbai was attacked on 26/11/2008, I had gone to Chennai Central railway station on 29/11/2008 and not to my surprise, I wasn't checked, I was simply let in, the security officials didn't even have the smallest of doubts that someone could carry objectionables. If this is the kind of security provided to a metro city, let's hope the country to be blessed.

http://www.pgportal.gov.in/

Above is a link between people of India and the government in real sense of the word. I came to know about it a few days ago. Unfortunately, I don't know how fast we get responses and fortunately, I've not felt the need to use it.

It is an online portal where we can lodge complaints pertaining to any of the state governments, or any of the ministries of central government.

Please make full use of it, whenever you feel the need. We must never blame the government without communicating with them, and when we are getting such an opportunity, I would request all to make use of it.

Indian Leaders - Mahatma Gandhi to Raj Thackeray

If you consider this title, it's journey from sensitivity to brutality, from humanity to barbarism, from sympathy to apathy and from up to down.

I sometimes laugh at the immaturity shown by Raj Thackeray or rather pity for it.

When India's status is on the verge of being taken out of the list of third world countries, instead of founding Bharat Navnirman Seva, he wants to blow his trumpet by Maharashtra Navnirman Seva.

It is said that justice is blind, so is indicated by the statue in courts. Is it really not discriminating?

When the constitution of India gives me a right to stay anywhere in the country, who is Raj Thackeray to make a comment on it? How can he dare to say that north Indians should forget their culture and be Marathi? After saying so, and not only saying so, after morally killing so many poor north Indians with his bunch of devilish goons, how can any government let him move freely? Why is the arrest taking place so late?

People like Raj Thackeray are the worms corroding the national harmony and unity. These worms should either be taught a lesson, or on denial to follow what the constitution says, should be trashed out like we do with the rubbish in our house.

There are many other worms corroding the base of the national harmony. Throw them out of the country and India will be a golden sparrow again.

There was a man who was fasting to UNITE the diverse Indian population, and now there is a man who is going to the extent of looting people and beating them to severe injuries to DIVIDE Indian population.

What does he think? If only Marathi people are left in Mumbai, will it be as it is now? Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city and it is standing tall because of people with different cultures living there with unity. If they are thrown out, what will Mumbai be? It may not even be visible on India's map.

I am not very well aware of the episode of Mr Amitabh Bachchan apologizing Raj Thackeray, but if it is to be believed that he apologized for Mrs Bachchan's statement that she will continue speaking Hindi, this does make a big black spot on the tag of THE MILLENIUM STAR.

Prohibition on consuming Alcoholic Drinks in Gujarat - What a Joke!!!!!!

Gujarat government boasts of so many things, fast urbanization, Sardar Sarovar Project and a lot many ambitious infrastructural projects taking place in Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat and Rajkot; and they deserve the credits, but what about something that has been one of the unique features of the state, one different identity separating it from the lot, the PROHIBITION.

Is it on paper or practice?

Yesterday 17 (some claim it to be 16) people died by consuming country liquor in Ahmedabad, and they are demanding to penalise the manufacturers of the adulterated liquor. Do we have the sense that Laws are meant to be followed? And what about the mascots of Law? What are they doing? Newspapers are publishing photographs of people preparing country liquor on the banks of Sabarmati, not in some unused warehouse. The workers look as casual in the photograph as if they are preparing seer in the lap of nature. Is it what the Police force is supposed to do?

If there is a law, it has to be followed at any cost. Nobody is superior to it, nobody can be spared. It is the respect towards the constitution that is entirely missing.

Crime rate is not on the lower side in Gujarat compared to most of Indian states for no reason. Prohibition is one of the reasons, at least people are not openly boozing and hooting, so there arises no question of relieving the prohibition as, to whatever extent it is prevalent, it is beneficial for the state.

Relieving the law, because it cannot be practised would be the inability of the administration to realize it. It would be shedding the responsibility or getting rid of the necessary baggage.

The question here is that why some people are fearlessly breaking the laws and are feeling proud about it? There are localities where even five years old kid knows, where to go if someone is in need of liquor. Though on a larger spectrum, the so called civilised class of people refrains to get indulged in these practices, there also exists a class of irresponsible citizens(???) caring a damn for the laws.

Do the administrators not have the courage or the dedication is missing?

It requires guts to do what you believe, if you believe in idealism. The Gujarat of Gandhi can never be like this. We need to have the profound belief in principles like Mahatma Gandhi and firmness like Sardar Patel. Are we maintaining the heritage? Is it for what the millions of brave freedom fighters struggled? Is it for what they gave away their lives like anything?
They wanted to prevent our country from being exploited. They prevented it from being exploited by the Britishers, but now Indians themselves are taking the privilege.
