My first post

I had thoughts about blogging for so many days or may be months, but the inherent laziness probably prevented me from blogging.
Why I wanted to blog??????????
Simple. To express myself.
Daily newspaper in the morning brings agony and sorrow only instead of smile on a face, what a terrible beginning of a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are so many things beyond one's reach.........
But somehow one wants to do it or at least wants to discuss it, share it, express it.
That's why I want to blog.

Today, 20th June, 2009, today's headlines completely eradicated my indolence and pushed me to write something.

As written by Times of India, two constables in UP pushed a pregnant woman out of the train. Why? She denied paying bribe of 100 rupees.

So one question arises. Is her life more valuable or 100 rupees?
Another question arises. How could the constables ask her for bribe?
Another question arises. Indian Railways belong to THY MAJESTY constables?
Another question arises. Are we living in a democratic country?
Another question arises. Will any concrete steps be taken by the authorities to uproot this barbarism or will it be suppressed like millions of other stinking symbols of inhumanity?
Another question arises. How long shall we be so insensitive and forgetful?

I remember the quote on air after 26/11 blasts People of Mumbai are fighters. They will overcome all these hardships and resume their routine life.

Should it be our reply to terrorism? Should we try and forget these things, or keep the fire burning in our hearts and toil till we eliminate this vice from the society?

Forgiving is a sign of courage, forgetting is a sign of cowardice.

After arising so many questions, I arise one final question and the finger of question is pointing towards ourselves. Are we courageous or coward? Are we sensitive or inhuman? Shall we do anything for changing the society instead of always blaming the bureaucracy, the political system and the government? I believe, the people on the coach where this shameful act was materialized were coward, had they not been, they would have prevented the constables from behaving like this. But had you, me or anyone of us been there, would it have created some difference, or we would have been silent spectators and enjoyed the action movie?

This is a question to be asked to ourselves. Instead of asking for a change, do we have the courage to BE THE CHANGE?

If you're not doing anything to prevent or fight terrorism, dowry, poverty, disgust, unemployment; you do not possess the right to comment on it.

Sitting on an armchair and cursing the politicians is probably one of the most favourite timekilling activity of today's youth (including me), but shall we ever be in politics and improve the country?

Shall we ever think of giving up the lucrative jobs we may get in the fields of banking, management, engineering, pharma and bla bla bla............ and DO something for a change, for the upliftment of the country???

  2. nice thoughts. do consider this w.r.t. 26/11. a party called the people's professional party was formed after the tragedy. they recruited people with good and suitable qualifications viz.all professionals. what happened in the elections? their candidates lost their deposit in every seat that they contested. the big time winners? raj thackeray and his bunch of goons who had shut their traps when 26/11 took place.
also, any thoughts on the recent capitation fee expose by toi? auctioning of medical seats in bangalore?

  3. Well, I'm really happy that I could provoke some thoughts, but is it enough?

    Shouldn't we provoke some action?

And when it comes to good candidates not being elected in elections, once again it's we only who should be blamed.

On the day of election we are getting a day off, not for some afternoon movie or catching up with IPL matches or having a nice brunch with a bunch of equally irresponsible people, who without even turning up for voting expect a nice government, taking care of everything for them.

I even came to know that some political party is promoting only IIT or IIM passouts for contesting any election, is it noticeable anywhere?

What jaagore team is doing is really a commendable job. Even they are having IIT Madras graduates in their team, who resigned their jobs and now working day and night for awaking 1 billion people about voting, which is equally a duty as well as a right of the citizens of India.

  4. All said an done Jani whatever you have written is purely true but one thing you are forgetting here that we are a group of very few privileged in here to have a chance to think all this, the layman on the streets still fights for the security of housing, food and health care. And because we have been given such a comfortable upbringing and had have a chance to study at this places we can speak all this, never forget a person who earns 3000 a month and he is the sole support of his family. You cannot deny this fact here, we are still a poor country so although all of us may take the lead its long before everyone has the resources and level of understanding to act accordingly.

True, but what makes me gloomy is that even the few privileged people forget the real meaning of life and form an envelop around themselves and be insensitive towards their surroundings. Not everyone can be a leader, but those who have the potential are also not finding their careers in politics and despite having power to transform millions of lives, end up in living the whole life only for selfish means; and this creates the loopholes for those to enter politics who do not deserve.
